WHAT TO DO

The Graham sits right in the middle of ride country — where every direction offers something worth chasing. Curves, views, quiet hikes, rushing rivers, and routes that make you lose track of time (in a good way). Whether you’re hereto ride hard, roam slow, or mix the two, Robbinsville puts you close to it all. Here are a few of our favorites, all within easy striking distance of your stay.

FOR THE DRIVE

Tail of the Dragon (US-129)

The one that made this region famous.318 curves in 11 miles — a bucket list ride for motorcyclists and car enthusiasts alike. Known for its twists, elevation changes, and adrenaline-friendly pace, the Dragon draws riders from across the country. The Graham is just under 20 minutes from the start of the stretch, making it an ideal basecamp for early morning runs or winding down after a long  day in the saddle.

Cherohala Skyway

For long-range views, sweeping turns, and a more relaxed ride, the Skyway delivers.Rising to over 5,000 feet between North Carolina and Tennessee, this road blends elevation with wide-open curves and scenic overlooks you’ll want to linger at. Especiallystunning in the fall.

Moonshiner 28

A lesser-known local favorite. This historic route winds its way through the Smokies and serves up sharp corners, light traffic, and beautiful backcountry scenery — perfect for riders who want to explore beyond the big names.

FOR THE OUTDOORS

Lake Santeetlah

One of the region’s most beautiful mountain lakes — and somehow still uncrowded. Just minutes from The Graham, it’s perfect for paddleboarding, kayaking, picnicking, or just finding a quiet moment by the water.

Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest

Home to some of the oldest trees in the eastern U.S., this quiet, two-mile figure-eight loop trail lets you stretch your legs beneath towering tulip poplars and centuries-old canopy. A peaceful stop, about 30 minutes from the motel.

Fontana Dam

A short ride, big views. Fontana Dam is one of the tallest in the eastern U.S. and makes for a scenic, worthwhile stop. There’s a visitors' center, several lookouts, and great spots to pull off for a mid-ride snack or photo.
